Yes, it’s true. Literally several of you have been anticipating this release since the RPM Challenge ground to a halt in February. As I discussed previously, this is our horror album soundtrack, with 12 (+1) tracks of restrained tension, creepy passages, and quiet moments of doubt. We think it’s our most refined effort yet and we invite you to take a listen.
For the release of this album, we have a few goodies. When we released Blood and Whiskey last year, we dropped the minimum price of our first two albums to zero dollars bill. All of our albums are name-your-own price, but for you completionists out there, you can round out our discography and see the path we’ve taken for a penny each, if you wanted. On top of that, I’ve added a special handmade CD package to all four albums. If you have the downloaded files but are sentimental for physical goods days gone by, check ‘em out.
But for Wake Up Dead, we have something really special. After Blood and Whiskey came out, I commissioned Stephen Bobbett to design us a Western-themed image. It snuck onto the Bandcamp page a couple of weeks ago as our band photo. Here’s the alternate version…

…which has been made into 11×14 posters, printed by Industry Standard!
We’re offering four different packages for this album: a $5 digital download (same as Blood & Whiskey), an $8 dollar handmade CD edition, a $12 Gunslinger poster edition, and a $14 poster + CD edition. There are only 30 poster editions and 10 poster + CD, so tell your friends to order quickly.
Since we’ve never been much about doing this for money, if you popped through this entry on your way to Bandcamp, enter ‘shootemdead’ during checkout and we’ll take 20% off anything you buy.
Additionally, winterstar albums are now released under our little label, Young Hours Records, which is a subsidiary of Any and All Records. It’s kind of a joke and kind of not. The concept behind Any and All Records brims with a cheeky truth, so we’re joining up with that lot.
We’re so pleased to have been able to work with such talented folks to make this release possible. Thanks to our few but faithful fans who have supplied no end of encouragement while we tortured you with noise. Feel free to send copies of any of our albums to your friends, although we’d be doubly honored to know we have a special place on your playlists or mix CDs.
Come back and let us know in the comments what you think of the new album. Bonus points if you snap a picture of where you hung the poster!
ETA: Our drummer, Andrew Cote, is doing a Kickstarter. Toss him a few bucks!
